Digitale Photography
by Ger van der Heyden
Are you a digital photographer yet or would you like to become one?
In this basic course you will learn the knacks of digital photography.
We offer you a unique combination of taking this course while at the same time enjoying your holidays in Greece. In this way you will learn the skills of digital photography in a relaxed manner and you will be able to put into practice what you have learnt there and then.
If you prefer to do your preparations at home, we can offer you a one-day course in The Netherlands followed by the remaining 8 days in Greece on location.
What will you learn in this course?
You will learn how to operate and use the digital camera, i.e. how to adjust the correct resolution, which digital formats to choose (jpeg, tiff, and raw) in order to shoot and save pictures and how to recover them.
You will be taught about mega pixels, resolution, colour and the relation between these.
Moreover, we will practice the application of all this in combination with composition and light.
Taking pictures on location at Epidavros and Mycenae is a great experience.
On the whole, the beaches and markets in Greece offer immensely inspiring opportunities, even more so as we will teach you how to work with composition, light, lighting and exposure.
Editing: You will learn how to work with an editing program of your choice (photo shop, photo shop elements, paint shop pro 8, or any other program suited to your camera), so that you can make suitable your pictures and images for printing (or any other purpose) and archive them.
If you dispose of a digital camera with at least 4 mega pixels and sufficient memory capacity, you will make the very most of this course.

Course instructor: Let us introduce our instructor, Ger;
“I took an interest in photography while I was a student at the School for Printing and Design in Arnhem during which I realised that this was what I wanted: being a photographer.
After my study at the school for Photography in The Hague (or kabk, as it is called nowadays) where I got to know a lot more about photography, I started a company of my own together with a partner, Marsel Loermans, where I worked until 1987. In that very year I started my own business as a commercial photographer at a studio in Amsterdam.
I worked for Philips, Peugeot, Suiker Unie, Kodak, Nijhof, Glaxo among others.
At present I own a daylight studio in Hilversum.”
