Who is Karidiès
Karidiès has arised after Karen de Vies had given theatre courses at Archaia Epidavros for many years, named ‘Theatre-holidays’ at that time. Now that the number of courses is increasing a new name has been given:‘Karidiès’, meaning ‘Walnut-trees’. Walnut-trees mean something special to Karen and her partner Dimitris and both their names are united therein. A tree with a future, and that happens to be what Karen and Dimitris want, building a future in Epidavros with this course-center based and growing upon the pillars Greek culture and theatre.
All
this means one can expect courses in the field of theatre, the Greek language,
Greek cookery, photography, aimed at hobbyists as well
as professionals. Exchanging ideas between groups from different cultures,
with theatre as an example, will become possible.
A number of courses will be internationally accessable, however the course
staff may express a preference for a particular language. The program
will be different and varying every year.
Theatre and Greek language
will be given at the Pevkotheatro, a small open-air theatre
in the shade of 2 huge pine-trees, with a magnificent view over the harbour
of Epidavros.
Karen will lead the theatre courses herself as she has been doing since
1996; as for the other courses specialists will be called upon.
Every
summer a theatre and music festival takes place in Archaia Epidavros;
the area is full of ancient Greek culture, like Mycenae and Corinth and
the landscape appears ever so attractive with it’s mountains, the
sea, and the ever green orange- and olive orchards.
That’s how ‘Karidiès’ will be an oasis within
beautiful surroundings perfectly suitable to practice your hobby or deepen
the knowledge of your profession.
