Climate
Spring: April, May. It is usually very sunny already, about 20 ° during daytime. It may sometimes be cloudy and rainy but never for a long time. Temperature of the sea: the water is still cool. Plants and trees are flowering. There are not many tourists around yet. It is a good walking season. The rich fragrance of orange blossom penetrates the air.
June: It is a quiet season with temperatures rising up to 30°. The sea has warmed up considerably.
July and August: These are the hottest months of the year, Temperatures around 35°. Heat waves may occur, with temperatures of around 40°, sometimes lasting for 3 days and then slowly dropping. For the past few years, heat waves have occurred about twice a summer. The sea feels like a warm tub. At weekends and in August Greek tourists crowd all places. We strongly recommend early booking of accommodation.
September and October: Quiet months with slowly decreasing temperatures. Up till November the weather can be quite agreeable but showers and clouds can be frequent. Temperature of the sea is still pleasant.
Winter: Temperatures between 5° and 20°. Sunny spells alternating with clouds, rain and wind. It is too cold to swim. A number of restaurants and hotels are closed. It is an excellent season for walking.
